Suez Canal Traffic Could Fully Rebound by Mid-2025 if Gaza Ceasefire Remains Intact.

The Suez Canal is expected to fully recover by mid-2025 if the Gaza ceasefire holds, with traffic gradually improving by March. Current ship movements remain significantly reduced, impacting global trade flows.

The Suez Canal, a key global trade route, is expected to see gradual traffic recovery by late March 2025, with full normalization anticipated by mid-2025, provided the Gaza ceasefire holds. Suez Canal Authority chief Osama Rabie reported thatcurrent daily traffic has dropped to 32 ships, less than half of the pre-war average of 75 vessels. Large oil tankers remain unable to pass, restricting trade flows. In a notable shift, the Liberian-flagged oil tanker Chrysalis successfully navigated the canal for the first time since a Houthi attack in the Red Sea last July, traveling to Egypt’s Sidi Kerir Port.
